International Draughts European Youth Championships - 1st day

2024.07.311. - 2024.08.10. International Draughts European Youth Championships, Jelgava, Latvia. Opening ceremony:

On 1 August at 11:00 a.m., the opening ceremony of the European Youth Championships started. The list of Hungarian participants. Coach: Bálint Ambrózy, Coach: Mrs. József Egri.

After the opening we had some time to explore the castle and its surroundings. We came across a playground, or rather an open-air community space, that we would like to see in Kállósemjén.

After the opening ceremony, the battle of wits started at 15:00. More than 200 competitors from 12 countries competed against each other. In our team, the 2 youngest girls: Viktória Csonka and Krisztina Hajdu are playing for the first time in such a prestigious international competition. Despite not having much experience yet, they are playing with great perseverance, patience and deliberation. They have a very nice, readable game sheet and have both won 1-1 matches. That's a big word in this strong players' community. Bálint Ambrózy helps them to improve continuously, they analyse every game together. Bálint is very pleased with the work of the 2 newcomers.
