International Draughts European Youth Championships

2024.07.31. - 2024.08.10. International Draughts European Youth Championships, Jelgava, Latvia. Day 8:

Today the rapid round started. There were so many Latvian competitors for the last 2 days that 2 more rooms had to be opened for the youngest competitors (Hopes girls nad Hopes boys). This means that Latvian mental sport has a significant junior base. Great emphasis is put on teaching the youngest generation of checkers and promoting it throughout the country. There were unexpected twists and surprises during the competition. It was obvious that Bencan Homoki and Anna Vécsei liked the hszú party much better and found it difficult to switch to the shorter rapid version. On the other hand, Buda Pauer, Noémie Meszesán and Noémie Balogh liked the short fast pace better.
