In our weekly cooking workshop, the children made a real delicacy, jam-filled steam dumplings, which they enjoyed eating.
Ingredients:
1 cup of flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon of melted butter
A pinch of salt
1/4 cup of water (or enough to form a dough)
Jam (your choice, e.g., apricot jam)
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix the flour and salt.
Add the egg and melted butter. Mix well.
Gradually add the water and knead to form a smooth dough.
Once the dough is ready, divide it into small portions and shape them into balls.
Flatten the dough balls with your palms to form flat discs.
Place a small spoonful of jam in the center of each dough disc.
Carefully fold the dough around the jam to form dumplings, ensuring the jam stays in the center.
In a larger pot, bring water to a boil and place a steaming rack or basket over it.
Arrange the dumplings on the steaming rack and cover the pot. Steam for about 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
Once done, remove them carefully and serve. You can optionally dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
Enjoy your meal!
