We made jam-filled steam dumplings

In our weekly cooking workshop, the children made a real delicacy, jam-filled steam dumplings, which they enjoyed eating.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of flour

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon of melted butter

  • A pinch of salt

  • 1/4 cup of water (or enough to form a dough)

  • Jam (your choice, e.g., apricot jam)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt.

  2. Add the egg and melted butter. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add the water and knead to form a smooth dough.

  4. Once the dough is ready, divide it into small portions and shape them into balls.

  5. Flatten the dough balls with your palms to form flat discs.

  6. Place a small spoonful of jam in the center of each dough disc.

  7. Carefully fold the dough around the jam to form dumplings, ensuring the jam stays in the center.

  8. In a larger pot, bring water to a boil and place a steaming rack or basket over it.

  9. Arrange the dumplings on the steaming rack and cover the pot. Steam for about 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked through.

  10. Once done, remove them carefully and serve. You can optionally dust them with powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy your meal!
