Disaster Prevention and Awareness with Youth Engagement
You FuTuRe (Protect Your Future with Disaster Awareness) is a 24-month international solidarity project supported by the European Solidarity Corps. It aims to prepare young people for preventing, managing, and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters. The project brings together six partner countries: Türkiye, Portugal, Hungary, Morocco, and Ukraine.
Objectives
Raising disaster awareness: Equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively during the first 72 hours of an emergency.
Inclusion and equal opportunities: Involving 114 young people with fewer opportunities.
Creating volunteer teams: Training and engaging youth in disaster prevention and emergency support activities.
Environmental awareness: Implementing eco-conscious practices throughout the project (e.g., digital documentation, waste sorting, walking instead of driving).
Project Partners
Sorgun Gençlik Derneği (Türkiye – Coordinator)
Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa (Portugal)
Ilk Sen Ol Gençlik Hareketi Derneği (Türkiye)
Morocco’s Friends Foundation (Morocco)
Prostir Molodi (Ukraine)
Diákokért és Ifjakért Egyesület – KDIE (Hungary)
Activities
International volunteering mobilities (30-day periods): Implemented in Türkiye, Portugal, Hungary, and Morocco.
Workshops and field practices: Covering topics like climate change, sustainable development goals, and disaster risk reduction.
Cultural exchange and competence development: Participants develop EU values, foreign language skills, and self-confidence.
Dissemination campaigns: Project results are published in English and shared widely to maximize impact.
Why Is This Important?
The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly severe. This project empowers young people to become informed and active contributors to strengthening community resilience. At the end of the project, participants receive a Youthpass certificate, supporting their educational and career pathways.
