21 days around Europe, 6th day

Projekt number: 2023-1-HU01-KA155-YOU-000144495

Today we had a little rest after yesterday's long trip. We went shopping at 8am, had breakfast and then took the metro to the Duomo in Milan. After last night's difficulties with the metro ticket, this morning went smoothly. The Duomo is beautiful and there weren't many tourists this morning. We decided to have a look. And that's where the complications started. Today the tower is not open to the public and there is no ticket office, tickets can only be bought online. Of course, only 5 at a time, but there were 6 of us. We took the usual photo with the DiscoverEU flag in front of the Duomo, then bought the remaining 1 ticket and queued to get in. We were screened by security and the security lady saw the DiscoverEU flag in my backpack. She was outraged that you can't bring any flags in here. We told her it would be in the backpack, we were not going to take it out. You can't take it in anyway," he said. I asked to leave it at the entrance and I would come back for it after the visit. I couldn't do that either. So we bought the 6 tickets, but only 5 people could enter the cathedral because of the flag. For some reason, every visit to Italy has some inconvenience. (In Viterbo, for the farewell dinner, we were sent to a restaurant that closed 2 years ago. In Palermo the hotel owner was so "nice" that the Hungarian group wanted to move out on the 2nd day. And now Milan...)

It must be me. Although I have never experienced anything like this in other countries. And I apologise to all my dear Italian friends, but something always goes wrong.

Of course, the rest of the day turned out wonderfully, we visited Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and spun the bull's balls for luck. We admired the Castello Sforzesco and the park behind it. Tens of hectares of greenery, simply beautiful. We had time to meet some young Italians, play volleyball, enjoy the sunshine in the green park. And now dinner is about to start...
