Cultural Heritage | Adult Learning | Family-Friendly Community

Four participants took part in a training programme on Cultural Heritage within the framework of an Erasmus+ adult education project. For us, the programme’s most important value was that the participants were able to develop their methodological knowledge related to the non-formal education of adult learners, particularly in the fields of cultural heritage, traditions and community values.

The training addressed the concepts of culture and cultural heritage, cultural diversity, the role of local history, museum-based and artistic approaches, and ways of integrating traditions, language, the environment and community knowledge into learning processes through engaging and experiential methods.

The participants also worked with practical approaches, including community-building activities, games, creative exercises, local history research, digital tools and the design of their own heritage-based learning sessions. These experiences are closely connected to the work we carry out with our adult learners.

We are especially pleased that, through our joint work, we have been able to build a family-friendly community where professional development, folk arts activities and family life naturally complement one another. Several participants have started families and had young children during the years they have worked with us, while continuing their involvement in folk arts.

The two young children regularly attend training sessions, rehearsals and community events. They are growing up in a culturally diverse and vibrant environment where tradition, community, learning and creativity become a natural part of everyday life.
