Our Fifth Day in Le Havre

On the fifth day of our mobility in France, we attended our final Krav Maga session at the Okinawa Karate Club in the morning. During this session, the participants learned how to recognise different dangerous situations and became familiar with the basic principles of responding to them. They also gained insight into how to remain calm, alert and capable of reacting appropriately in more complex situations. Over the four days of practical training, we gained a great deal of useful experience that contributed to the development of the participants’ self-defence skills, self-confidence and awareness of personal safety.

The main professional programme of the afternoon was a visit to the Le Havre Police Department. We were first shown the building where the officers work, followed by a visit to the central control room, from where events taking place across the city are continuously monitored. We then attended a detailed presentation about the main responsibilities of the police, their daily work, and the tools and equipment they use.

A particularly valuable part of the programme was the informal discussion, during which our participants gained a more direct understanding of the everyday experiences of French police officers, their areas of responsibility and their role in maintaining public safety. The visit helped us better understand how public service institutions operate, as well as the issues of public safety and civic responsibility through the practice of another European country.

In the early evening, we visited the seaside once again, where it was a special experience to watch daylight gradually give way to night. During the long walk back to the hotel, the evening lights of Le Havre created a truly unique atmosphere.

We ended the day with another delicious dinner, this time enjoying a tasty lasagne, which provided a fitting conclusion to this eventful day.

The fifth day supported both the development of the participants’ practical knowledge related to personal safety and a deeper understanding of the role, operation and social responsibility of public institutions.
