Within the framework of the PEACE project (contract number: 101126579 — PEACE), we successfully collaborated with two Turkish civil organizations. A total of 30 volunteers participated in this joint effort: 10 from the Turkish civil organization Topluma Destek Dernegi, 10 from Genclik Calismalari Dernegi, and 10 from our organization.
For 45 days, the volunteers supported our association’s work, adding vibrancy to the summer camp programs. Our goal was to fill the days of disadvantaged children and young refugees from Ukraine, who have fled the horrors of war, with meaningful and enjoyable activities.
In the second session, students aged 15-18 from Ukraine joined us, passionate about preserving their traditions and dedicated to folk music and dance. During the camp, we created a joint folk dance performance, which we proudly presented to the local community. These shared dance steps not only enriched our cultural heritage but also strengthened friendships and understanding among the youth. Even if only for a short time, we were able to help these young people forget the horrors of war.
Throughout our shared activities, participants exchanged folk traditions, dances, and music, deepening connections across cultures. These moments together left lasting memories for all of us.
The group was accompanied by Benita Mondics and her colleagues.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all volunteers and participants for their enthusiasm and dedication! Through this partnership, we will continue to welcome more Ukrainian children and young people, helping them overcome the traumas caused by war.
