Project title: 21 days around Europe

2024.08.29...

We unpacked in the morning and set off to explore the city with suitcases. On the way, we met a group of children camping and saw mothers looking after children of nursery age. 2 mothers with 10 small children, 4 of them still in prams, walked in the park, did some shopping and spent the day with the little ones.

In order to enjoy the day, we had to leave our suitcases in the luggage room at the train station. Here came the problems. Some of us had brought suitcases so big that one suitcase could only fit into even the XXL size box, which cost 12 CHF/6 hours. So basically we spent almost the price of a lunch to store the luggage.

But afterwards we could comfortably hike on the lakeside, water bike and visit several shops. Of course, in most places we were just looking around and mooching, because the prices were not calculated for our wallets. Lunch and dinner were spent in one Turkish restaurant in a very nice atmosphere. Afterwards, we took our suitcases out of the luggage locker and waited for the train.

The highlight of the evening was the ride in the sleeper train. 6 beds in a compartment where you couldn't lie down and sit at the same time because there was not enough place.

But it was very funny. Finally, after 14 hours on the train, we arrived at the Eastern station, where we immediately noticed that this was not the Zurich train station, where the floor was so clean you could eat off it.

In the Budapest Keleti railwaystation, the waiting room had a few pigeon shit benches waiting for travellers, cobwebs and pigeon droppings everywhere.
